If Lacey Hill is not on your radar, she will be after today! This Oneida Wolf Clan, Six Nations born and bred independent singer/songwriter describes her music as “Indigenous Soul” grown from a passion for making music that started as a little girl.
Lacey paid her dues singing backup for local Six Nations bands like The Healers. But since 2013, Lacey has established herself as one of only a few female musical talents to roll out three original albums from her community of Six Nations on the Grand.
Lacey puts a tremendous amount of her heart into her albums: 528 Vol I, “M” (582 Vol II) and 528 Vol III The Moon. We discuss the inspiration for her songs and the significance of the number, 528.
All of Lacey’s albums are available everywhere digital music is sold. Sample Lacey’s 528 Vol III The Moon here.

“Y.A.N.A.” showcased in November during Weesageechak 37 Theatre Festival at the Aki Studio in Daniels Spectrum in Toronto.

There were performances this summer at Ontario Place, Casaloma and on National Indigenous Peoples’ Day at The Oakville Centre for the Performing Arts, to name a few.
Musically, Lacey is working closely with Silverheels Records and RedDoor Studio. She kicked off 2025 with "CRAZY 4 U" which soared to #1 on the Indigenous Music Countdown.
Between albums Lacey takes to the road and that has taken her to central and western Canada, as well as Australia, Edinburgh and New York. We discuss those experiences and how they shaped new projects and works.
One of those projects is You Are Not Alone. I went to the reading of this beautiful children’s musical at Daniels Spectrum. Although traffic was working against me and I never thought I’d make it, I enjoyed every minute of the one-hour performance! Dillion Einish, Katia Ferderber, Nick Nahweghbow and Jeremy Proulx captured their characters perfectly and Lacey’s original music was fabulous.
Lacey shares the significance of the title of her musial and why it’s important for children to know that they are not alone in this world.

Lacey and I discuss why the people and buildings of Oshweken show up in her music videos and are featured in NDNs on the Airwaves (2022), the 10-episode comedy series that Lacey played the lead in. There's also the library of interviews with talented artists from Six Nations that she's compiling.
Skip this episode of Small Change at your peril, because you don’t want to miss out on Lacey’s wit, wisdom and where she’ll be performing next.
